Once again guys at iFixit did what they do best, preying on Gadgets (new and old), tearing them apart and exposing their inner guts. Their latest victim was Apple’s new Fourth generation iPod shuffle. This $49 device comes equipped with 2 GB of Storage and some 15 Hours of Playback Time. That’s pretty much all that this tiny device has to offer.

ifixit overview

As stated on ifixit site, it’s not easy to dissect one of these devices and you might end up damaging the body.(it took them half an hour of prying and heat-gunning to open this thing).

Inside, the device’s control wheel is attached to the logic board via a connector, making it easy to remove, while the battery is soldered to the logic board, making replacement almost impossible, hence unserviceable.

All in all this iPod shuffle has good sound quality and a reasonable amount of playback time but when it comes to repairing, it will get you some headaches.
