Buying Christmas gifts is hard – you spend hours if not days browsing Amazon and a considerable amount of life in stores looking for the perfect gifts.

Men always complain how hard it is to get the right gifts for the ladies in their lives. But let me tell you something – it’s super hard to find the right gift for a man, especially if he loves all things tech and knows a lot more about technology than you do. So, ladies, here are some tech gift ideas for the men in your life.

1. Apple iPad

If your bank account looks healthy and you don’t mind spending quite a bit of money, then an iPad is the obvious choice. iPads come with different specs, which means that some models are more wallet-friendly than others. With all its features, functionality, and cool apps, an iPad is the perfect travel companion, a great entertainment centre, and a major fashion statement as well. Put it this way, even if the lucky guy is not an Apple fan yet, he sure will become one after receiving the gift.

2.  e-Reader

If you are buying a gift for a bookish guy, then an e-reader will be the answer to his dreams. The tricky bit with e-readers is which one to choose – an Amazon Kindle or a Nook from Barnes & Noble (or a completely different manufacturer).  If all you want to get him is a basic e-reader, then a Wi-Fi version of Kindle for $139 should do nicely. But if you want to buy the ultimate e-reader with lots of additional features like surfing the Web and using social media, then Nook Colour for $249 is the way to go.

3. Digital SLR Camera

A DSLR is another expensive gift you might want to consider. There are a lot of models to choose from and everyone has their own preferences, so it’s hard to give advice. My personal favourite is Nikon D5000, as I find it a great balance of quality, features, and price.

4. USB Fridge

If you are looking for a creative, fun and useful gift, consider buying a USB-powered portable fridge. This gadget is perfect for an office worker. Large enough for a can of soda (or beer), this little fridge can cool your drink in about 5 minutes. All you need to do is connect it to a computer via a USB cable.

5. An external hard drive

I know, I know! Not the most creative gift idea! But funnily enough, one never has enough storage. Another good thing about external HDDs is that you can always find either a sporty or a classy-looking one, depending on the recipient’s personality. When choosing an external hard drive, the golden rule is to never buy the cheapest one and choose a well-known and respected maker – otherwise there is a risk that the hard drive will not be a reliable storage option it’s supposed to be.

When choosing a gift, think about what he likes and not what you like – otherwise you’ll risk upsetting both of you by buying something he will never appreciate.

We wish you a very Digital Christmas and a Techy New Year!
