Dev team has just released a new version of Redsn0w that is v0.9.6 B1. Without further delay, check out the following guide to know the procedure to jailbreak and more details.

Before you go for the guide you must know:
- This jailbreak is for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G only.
- There is no unlock for this jailbreak so if your iPhone 3G depends on a carrier unlock, don’t go for this jailbreak and wait for the unlock to arrive.
- Redsn0w 0.9.6 B1 is not available for Windows yet, there is only a Mac version so far. So if you are using Windows, you can’t follow this guide unless the Windows version is available. Windows version is coming soon and we will inform you as soon as it’s released.
- I will not be responsible for any loss of your device while attempting this jailbreak, do it on your own risk.
How to jailbreak
- Download iOS 4.0.1, download according to your device:
- iOS 4.0 for iPhone 3G
- iOS 4.0 for iPod Touch 2G
- iOS 4.1 for iPhone 3G
- iOS 4.1 for iPod Touch 2G - Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you haven’t.
- Connect your device to iTunes and update your device to the downloaded iOS file. To do this, in iTunes under devices, select your device and in ‘summary’ tab under the ‘version’ click ‘update’ while pressing Shift key. File browser will open and select the downloaded iOS file follow the instructions.
- Download Redsn0w 0.9.6 B1
- Redsn0w 0.9.6 B1 for Mac OSX x86
- Redsn0w 0.9.6 B1 for Windows (coming soon, will inform you as soon as it’s available) - Run Redsn0w 0.9.6 B1.
- Browse for the iOS 4.1/4.0 IPSW file and click Next.
- Check ‘Install Cydia’. You can also check other advanced options if you wish to. Click Next when you are done.
- Turn off your device and plug it in to the computer and click Next.
- Connect your device in DFU mode. To enter DFU mode, Press and hold the “Home” button and the “Sleep/Wake” button at the same time for 10 seconds. When the screen goes black, release the “Sleep/Wake” button but keep holding the “Home” button. You computer will recognize a USB device and you will see a blank screen. If you see an iTunes icon with iPhone’s USB connector that means you are in recovery mode not DFU mode. In this case restart your iPhone.
- Follow the instructions on Redsn0w 0.9.6 B1 to install the jailbroken iOS.
- After installation, your device will restart to iOS 4.1/4.0. Done.
