I recently posted about jailbreakme.com, the first and easiest jailbreak for iPhone 4 by comex that is browser based. Jailbreakme.com is also fully compatible with iPhone 3G and 3GS(old bootrom) and all generations of iPod Touch running iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1. One must keep in mind that the exploit used in this jailbreak is expected to be easily fixed by Apple so do save your SHSH blog for iOS 4.0 or 4.01 so that you are able to downgrade after any upgrade that fixes this exploit. Here is how you can jailbreak on iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1 with Jailbreakme.com

Before you go for jailbreak, you must know:

  • This guide is for iPhone 3G and 3GS (old and new bootrom) and all generations of iPod Touch running iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1.
  • Jailbreakme doesn’t unlock your iPhone.
  • You must be on WiFi or 3G connectivity.

How to jailbreak:

  1. Open Safari and go to www.jailbreakme.com

  2. Wait for page to load completely. When page is completely loaded, swipe your finger across ‘swipe to jailbreak’ to start the jailbreak process.
  3. Now wait while your device downloads the necessary data to jailbreak your iPhone.
  4. When downloading is done, the jailbreak process will start and wait till a popup shows that says “Cydia icon is added on the springboard”
  5. Done, have fun
