The new Google Docs app for Android not only has easy search filters and navigation but also comes with this powerful feature that enables you to create a new document by taking a snap of the text in a photo. The text in the photo is recognized by Optical Character Recognition and is converted to an editable Google Docs document. The document appears in the list shortly after you take the photo.

Optical Character Recognition is a procedure to convert text appearing in images into machine-encoded editable text. Google Docs web app also supports OCR for JPEG, GIF, PNG and PDFs.
